This is a Full-Bodied blend with and exquisite and exceptional aroma. (Oscuro) wrapper, this is due to its intense color within the natural variety. Its finishing touches are composed of a Habano O.O. It is presented in an elegant white box of 23 cigars, identified with a second label with the name of this unique blend. Jose "Pepin" Garcia has made this in honor, appreciation and memory of his father, who was born in 1922. Le Bijou (The Jewel) 1922 is a blend that has been created within the well-known brand "My Father". It’s an earthy smoke with a salt-and-pepper quality and note of charred wood that precedes the ashy-tasting finish." However, this minority member says, not even close to a cigar of the year." Short and dark with a lopsided cap, this robusto burns and draws evenly. I enjoy almost everything My Father blends, from the mild Flor De Las Antillas, to the spicy Don Pepin, but I cannot yet recommend the Le Bijou, especially at the price point.Īll that being said, I'm hard-pressed to find anyone who dislikes the Le Bijou, I even have a buddy who rates them in his top three cigars, so I am probably in the minority. Overall I was left wanting more balance, and less strength. If you are looking for a spicy, deep, and dark cigar that exudes notes of leather, meat, spice, and espresso, then the My Father Le Bijou may be in your wheelhouse. The smoke output is sufficient, but leaves a thick and long finish, that to me isn't especially desirable. The construction has been without complaints, although it may go out on smokers with a slower puff-rate. There hasn't been much else to report, as I finish up the Le Bijou, the dark flavor profile remains the same. Its Habano Oscuro wrapper is sourced from some of. The overall darkness is too overbearing to discern any of those nuances. The Le Bijou 1922, from My Father, is one of the richest dark full-bodied cigars youll find anywhere. Less darkness, and a little more balance, perhaps notes like nuts, cream, or salt, these would be a great addition to the dark profile. So far the flavor profile leaves me wanting more, and wanting less. This is definitely a full body and full strength Cigar, I'm not sure it was the wisest pick for an afternoon smoke after a light lunch. Black espresso and dark chocolate are now the main notes, the spice has waned quite a bit, but remains full power on the retrohale. Shortly after the first third, the Le Bijou flavors transition into an even more deep and dark overall profile. I find this a little more appealing and refined versus the full-blown cedar type nuance, which is not a favorite of mine. The “woodsyness” is bordering on a burnt graham or bread taste. Most of the season smokers I know take the Cigar Aficionados rankings with a grain of salt, much is tainted by advertising dollars spent, but it does at least say something.Īt this point I am around 20 minutes in, the spiciness has toned down, albeit only slightly, this enables me to discern some other flavors such as cocoa, and a little bit of woodsy notes. I didn't realize it, but when checking on the blend, I noticed the Le Bijou received the #1 Cigar of 2015 award by Cigar Aficionado Magazine. Usually a cigar that starts off this spicy tends to tone down just as quickly, we'll see what happens. ![]() Immediately after toasting, the Le Bijou yields notes exactly as marketed, blasts of pepper and a spicy meatiness greet my palette, in fact I have not had a cigar this spicy in some time. This particular cigar was part of a Father's Day gift from my lovely wife. ![]() The wrapper itself is quite thick, and rustic to the touch with veins showing. The Le Bijou is a lovely appearing stick with a dark chocolate brown wrapper, two ornate bands, and an orange ribbon to complete the presentation. ![]() ![]() ![]() Seems unusually backwards to not allow that same opportunity to literally any women.'
